Job Description Summary: DataStax, the leading provider of database software for cloud applications, is seeking a talented Premium Support Engineer to join our DataStax team.Job Description: As the Premium Support Engineer, you will utilize your deep understanding of traditional RDBMS and Open Source technologies to help customers be successful.Essential Job Functions: Serve as case manager as well as internal and external point of contact for assigned Premium Support customersAddress escalations and ensure issues are resolved as quickly as possibleProvide oversight and guidance to Worldwide Support Engineers working on assigned Premium Support customersResearch, reproduce, troubleshoot, and solve highly challenging technical issues within the DSE product lineProvide empirical based guidance that leads to successful on-going health of large-scale, distributed solutions built on the DataStax Enterprise platformEducate assigned customers on effective use of DSEInitiate and recommend pre-emptive measures (such as consulting hours, training, on-site visit, etc.) to ensure customer successProvide technical insight for customer engagements, internal initiatives, and product developmentActive engage in the company's technical feedback process to Engineering, Sales, Enablement & Product ManagementJob Requirements:BA / BS / MS in Computer Science, or equivalent7 or more years in an application development or consulting role5 or more years of customer-facing experience, as well as with administering, configuring, or delivering solutions on Linux, Java and Python5 or more years of experience with traditional RDBMS and NoSQL databases including data modeling, performance tuning and configuration1 or more years experience with Apache Cassandra or DataStax EnterpriseExperience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning and troubleshootingExperience with SOLR and Spark preferred but not requiredGood knowledge of datacenter architecture, particularly multi-datacenter and global deploymentsPast experience and knowledge around DevOps methodologyStrong communication and presentation skillsAble to travel up to 30% of the time
