Job Description Summary: DataStax, the leading provider of database software for cloud applications, is seeking a talented Software Engineer in Test for Drivers to join our DataStax team. This position can be located anywhere in the United States.Job Description: As a Software Engineer in Test for Drivers, you would author, execute, and automate test plans specifically for the drivers in Apache Cassandra and DSE software. You would also have the opportunity to learn new languages, tools, and processes in a dynamic, high-energy environment. Essential Job Functions:Author, execute, and automate driver and tool tests (integration, endurance, and stress) against local and distributed Cassandra/DataStax Enterprise (DSE) clusters running on a variety of platformsExplore and improve the code base, while collaborating with development teams in an agile environmentLearn new languages, tools, and processes in a dynamic, fast-paced, small team environmentCreate analysis/tracking reportsWrite user-facing blog posts, driver software demos, and how-to tutorialsDebug customer issuesJob Requirements:3+ years in a production software development roleStrong development background using PythonUnderstand the complexities of testing in a distributed, big data environment, and place a strong emphasis on performance tuningComfortable with software development and scripting in a Linux environmentComfortable interfacing with the open source community and having your code reviewed via github pull requestsBS degree in Computer Science preferred, but not required5+ years development experienceExperience with Apache Cassandra/DSE, and/or formal testing frameworks like JUnit or NoseExperience configuring automated build and test servers (i.e. Jenkins/Travis/AppVeyor)Familiarity with team coordination tools (JIRA/Confluence) and agile development processes (Scrum/Kanban)Knowledge of Windows development environmentsExperience with SQL and relational databasesFamiliarity with the git source control system
