IT Director – Director of Software Development and Systems - 1103Mountain View, CAWe seek a self-motivated, hands-on, leader with a strong interest in the Sciences specifically in biotechnology. The Director, Software Development will report to the Senior Director, Information Technology. This individual will have the opportunity to manage the work across the entire software development lifecycle from requirements gathering, documentation, to development and validation. This person will also work and interact with a variety of departments ranging from R&D, Lab Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Sales Operations, to Quality Assurance.Responsibilities:Recruit, manage, and develop a team of IT professionals and consultants.Provide day-to-day leadership with respect to the software development team including but not limited to administration, implementation, upgrades/patches, system documentation, user support, custom reports, bug fixes, enhancements, training, asset management, ticket resolution, and deployments.Plan and execute complex projects end-to-end including requirements development, vendor and solution selection, systems integration and testing, and staff training.Design, develop and improve components for our in house CLIA Laboratory LIMS. Work with various departments to deploy, test, and validate LIMS.Provide software development support to our in house business and commercial operations departments.Minimum Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related Biology; MS in Computer Science preferred.8-10 years of hands-on relevant working experience preferably in a R&D or Biotech related environment with 4-6 years experience managing IT professionalsSolid knowledge and experience in SDLC and Agile methodologyIntermediate to advanced technical understanding of client/server technologies, infrastructure (web, database, networking and security)Proficiency in at least one of the following languages – shell scripting, Ruby/Rails, Java.Solid SQL and PL/SQL programming skills.Solid understanding of relational database design and object oriented programming concepts.Demonstrated ability to achieve results and work collaboratively in a team oriented environment.Strong interpersonal, analytical and customer service skills.Experienced in interactions with senior management executives and across functional areas; proven leadership in managing and motivating team membersMust be motivated, resourceful and creative, and excited to work hard in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Work experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industryExperience with CLIA laboratory, HIPAAExperience with Postgres, MySQL, Oracle 10g/11g/12cR/S-plus, JSP, AJAX, Spring/Hibernate, J2EE
