Making Waves’ mission is to ensure that students (Wave-Makers) gain acceptance to and graduate from four-year colleges and universities. Making Waves believes that ultimately, a quality education will enable Wave-Makers to become productive and contributing members of society.The College Financial Services Coordinator (CFSC) is responsible for providing financial support services to college Wave-Makers and disbursing the Making Waves scholarship. The CFSC helps Wave-Makers navigate financial systems to ensure a smooth high school-to-college transition and ultimately, earn their degree. The CFSC manages financial matters related to federal and state financial aid, scholarships and, specifically, the Making Waves scholarship. The position communicates with Wave-Makers and college contacts, and serves as an advocate for Wave-Makers when needed. Additionally, the CFSC is responsible for providing support to the Director to ensure effective outcomes based on Program Goals, managing both long range planning and short-term projects. The CFSC is responsible for guiding Wave-Makers through financial planning for college success. The CFSC will coach Wave-Makers through financial aid processes in-person and via technology (phone, video conference, text messaging, and email). The CFSC conducts in-person meetings with Wave-Makers at least twice per year and more frequently for Wave-Makers attending local colleges and universities. The CFSC is able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the Making Waves mission and vision and is passionate about ensuring that all Wave-Makers are financially literate. The CFSC is independent in his/her work and professional growth; highly organized, detail oriented, and demonstrates a commitment to achieving measurable results with Wave-Makers. The CFSC is energetic, hard-working and an enthusiastic team player.The position is one that requires advanced skill in financial literacy, and the ability to work effectively with students who are diverse in culture, language, ethnicity and academic skill level. The CFSC shows a commitment to academic achievement and demonstrates competence, high moral values, empathy and patience. The CFSC has an understanding of the particular needs of first-generation college students and exhibits sensitivity to Wave-Makers’ life experiences and perspectives.Required education:Bachelor'sRequired experience:Counseling or previous work in financial aid strongly preferredRequired language:Spanish language skills are a plus
