Parents Education Network (PEN) is seeking an entrepreneurial and dynamic individual with proven leadership and fundraising experience to become its next Executive Director. PEN’s new leader will champion the organization’s vision of parents, teachers and the community collaborating to ensure academic and life success for students with learning and attention differences. PEN’s programming includes a Speaker Series, Professional Educator Workshops, SAFE (Student Advocates for Education) Teen Program and an annual national event, EdRev. PEN has chapters in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and Dallas, and affiliate organizations in Sacramento and Phoenix. Position Summary: Reporting to the Board of Directors, our new Executive Director will: TAKE THE HELM! (Executive Leadership & Board Relations)Partner with the Board of Directors to establish a vision and strategy supporting PEN’s mission. Inform and engage board members and leverage each board member’s reach into the community. Provide adequate and timely information to the board, making sure that the board is kept informed on the condition of PEN and all the important factors influencing it. Establish positive working relationships with board members and work effectively with the board as a whole to build the conditions for long-term sustainability. CARRY ON OUR MISSION! (Education, Empowerment, and Support for Parents, Students, and Teachers Impacted by Learning and Attentions Differences)Maintain the culture of PEN in all aspects of the organization. Represent PEN as a well-respected leader in the LD community. Adhere to PEN’s foundational principles and ensure that all the work of PEN is within the scope of the mission. Develop and implement ways that PEN can be accessible to families and increase the diversity of constituents served. Develop and institute systems to provide visibility, both internally and externally, as to PEN’s impact. SECURE THE RESOURCES! (Development and Fundraising)Manage the organization’s resource development in partnership with the Board of Directors. Establish positive relationships with funders and donors and encourage multi-year commitments. Manage annual donor campaigns; execute marketing and outreachand follow up. Perform grant writing and outcome reporting. Periodically research, update & confirm grant schedule. Implement and oversee Fund Development Database to facilitate relationship building and fundraising from charitable support and private individuals and foundations. Oversee continued implementation of website, while considering accessibility. Develop relationships with key partners to increase PEN's reach and impact. STEWARD THE ASSETS! (Financial and Operational Management)Prudently manage the organization’s key assets, including both its financial and human resources. Build the conditions for long-term sustainability by operating within budget guidelines and meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Present an annual budget for approval and make prudent financial recommendations to the Board of Directors. Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps and motivates a diverse staff of qualified people. Encourage and offer opportunities for staff development and education. Hire and oversee staff and ensure compliance with personnel policies and state and federal regulations on workplace and employment. Engage and leverage volunteers as appropriate to support operational efforts. Qualifications:· Advanced degree in Education, MBA or Masters in Non-Profit Management or commensurate experience· Demonstrates strong leadership responsibility· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills· Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining excellent relationships· Energetic, self-starter, self-disciplined· Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities· Willing to work evenings and weekends as required· Able to travel periodically within the United States Salary:Commensurate with experienceBudget:<$1M
