The Maintenance Mechanic position conducts troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service on Transportation belt drive/accumulation/power conveyors and Dematic sortation systems. The position is a second shift assignment, but may require some modification of time worked to assist in a team on a special assignment or large project at times other than normal scheduled hours.Essential Responsibilities:Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment per manufacturer's requirements. Prepares and sets up Conveyor/Sorter systems for scheduled production runs including starting up the system and shutting it down at the end of the day.Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and PLC troubleshooting and repair involving two conveyor driven pick to belt modules, and a state of the art shoe divert sorter manufactured by Dematic. Understanding of various types of conveyors including Portec Curves, Spirals, over 1,500 feet of accumulation conveyor, 4 feed saw tooth merge system. RS200 Slat sorter, Transnorm curves, Ambiflex conveyor, Control flow gravity, Belt on roller and belt on slider conveyors.Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.Participates in the facility wide safety committee meeting and support the team to the best of his/her ability. Performs related duties as assigned in the areas of general building maintenance and supports actual production operations during peak season.Job Experience/Requirements:High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience. 4+ years of manufacturing experience conveyor and sortation, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC experience.Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts illustrated parts breakdown (IPB) diagrams and electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings Ability to troubleshoot complex automated systems controlled by computers programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and microprocessors in a high-volume work environment. Working knowledge of Ladder Logic is a plus.Ability to use basic machine shop tools for modifying simple parts.Ability to use metrology tools such as Vernier and micrometer calipers, depth and thread gaugesStrong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain cooperative working environment Effective written communications presentation skills and organizational skills Ability to operate independently to multi-task and to prioritize quickly Proficient in basic PC skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel required.Ability to work in a team based environment, and partner with peers. Ability to identify causes of poor efficiency on production lines, set appropriate priorities within the maintenancedepartment and instill sense of urgency to implement action plan and improve performance. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
